Welcome to the first ever Caterpillar Cross Stitch 'Stitcher of the Month' competition for February 2019 where the winner will come away with a £20 gift voucher! I love this community we've built together and I want to showcase the personality and story of a special stitcher each month.
So you remember back in October 2018 when I was asking for your votes in the British Craft Awards? We only went and WON! Stitch Designer of the Year 2019 - I'm still coming back down to Earth I think!
I drove many, many miles down to Syon Park to attend the 'Congregation of Inspiration.' As I exited the carpark and walked through the gates, the sight that greeted me was more than even I could have hoped for. The coloured boardwalk, inspirational signs up everywhere and THAT balloon arch of dreams.
Recently I was lucky enough to write a guest blog post over on Loretta's popular cross stitch site: Stitching The Night Away. Having run a cross stitch business for nearly 3 years, I regularly hear stitchers' stories and experiences of how cross stitch has not only helped them, but would go so far as to say its changed their lives.
I know it feels like we've only just gotten over Christmas and into January, but Valentine's Day will soon be upon us! And what better way to say "I love you" than with a personal handmade cross stitch card. Yeah, sure, its a lot easier to buy a card at the shops, but I always feel that it means more when the gift is handcrafted with love and care.
I often pick up inspiration even when I'm not looking for it. A colourful pattern in tiles outside, paintings, fashion or interior design. Sometimes the initial stages flow quite easily and ideas for a new pattern seem to come together quickly, then othertimes, I suffer with a creative block as many do!
