CROSS STITCHER OF THE MONTH - OCTOBER 2019

November 01, 2019

Welcome to the Caterpillar Cross Stitch 'Stitcher of the Month' competition for October 2019 where the winner will walk away with a £20 gift voucher! I love this community we've built together and I want to showcase the personality and story of a special stitcher each month.

Every one of you is so valued and I want to recognise and celebrate your contributions through this monthly giveaway. On the first day of every month, I'll ask for your nominations. You can nominate yourself or someone else.

Simply email me at info@caterpillarcrossstitch.com with your full name, email address and include a photo of some recent stitching. Don't hold back! Let us hear about your personality, background and experience with stitching. Where you're from, how you started stitching and why you love it!

The winner will receive a £20 Caterpillar Cross Stitch gift voucher and have their work shared on social media, our website and in the next email! At the end of each month, the Caterpillar Cross Stitch team will pick one winner based on the set criteria: creativity, interesting story, enjoyment and passion for cross stitch and overall impression. The winner will be contacted by email and will be interviewed for our blog and social media channels.

And now on to our WINNER for October 2019... Congratulations Kristine!

Kristine says:

Hi, I am from Wisconsin, USA and I’m 34 years old. I have been stitching since I was young - my mom taught me how. During college and pharmacy school I unfortunately fell away from stitching, there were just not enough hours in a day!

After graduating and starting my career as a pharmacist, I jumped back into stitching. The piece that has inspired me the most since then is Farewell To Anger by Leonid Afremov. After a falling out with my immediate family, this piece represents my husband and I walking away into the sunset together and starting our lives together. This piece brings a smile to my face every time I pick it up.

Stitching also got me through a very difficult time last summer. My step daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and unfortunately her mom abandoned her. She came to live with my husband and I and there was a lot of adjustment for all of us. Things have worked out very well and we couldn’t be happier that she finally was able to come live with us (something my husband has always wanted, just wish it were under better circumstances).

During this time I completed a custom piece I ordered. Its a photo of cars which is a hobby my husband and I share and I was able to turn that hobby into stitching - WIN! I just find stitching an escape from the real world and love watching my beautiful pieces come to life. I have just very recently learned about Caterpillar Cross Stitch from a flosstube video and I am stitching my first stitch-a-long! Thanks for continuing my love of stitching with your fun, vibrant, colorful pieces.

HELLO DEER CHRISTMAS STITCH-A-LONG - THE DETAILS!

August 11, 2020

If there was ever a time to take up stitching, or a good time to get into your first (or 40th) stitch-a-long, this is it. Christmas is one of my favourite times of year and although pre-order opens in August, like anything worthwhile, our festive stitching takes time.

Most importantly, I would also tell fellow stitchers or those wanting to stitch that stitching should be non-stressful and can be a great coping mechanism to help manage stress and anxiety! I make time every day to stitch and use it as my time to reflect on my day and process my emotions.
