Welcome to the Caterpillar Cross Stitch 'Stitcher of the Month' competition for July 2021 where the winner will walk away with a £20 gift voucher! I love this community we've built together and I want to showcase the personality and story of a special stitcher each month.
Every one of you is so valued and I want to recognise and celebrate your contributions through this monthly giveaway. On the first day of every month, I'll ask for your nominations. You can nominate yourself or someone else.
Simply email us at support@caterpillarcrossstitch.com (with Stitcher of the Month in the subject line) with your full name, location and include:
1. 3 x photos of some recent stitching (any design or brand)
2. 1 x clear, well lit, high resolution photo of yourself or the nominee
3. Let us hear about your personality, background and experience with stitching including a tip for beginners (300 words minimum please)
4. Your favourite piece, how you started stitching and why you love it!
The winner will receive a £20 Caterpillar Cross Stitch gift voucher and have their work shared on social media, our website and in the next email! At the end of each month, the Caterpillar Cross Stitch team will pick one winner based on the set criteria: creativity, interesting story, enjoyment and passion for cross stitch and overall impression. The winner will be contacted by email and will be interviewed for our blog and social media channels.

My name is Mandy Youngblood and I am a deaf 35 year old wife and mother from Rome, Georgia USA that has cross stitched since 2014. I began cross stitching as an exercise for my brain after suffering a traumatic brain injury at the end of 2013. My doctor agreed that having something to force my mind to concentrate would help with my healing processes and I thoroughly believe that cross stitching helped to aid in my recovery! Cross stitching helped me to relearn how to follow directions, identify colours and learn how to count in order again.
I am a fun loving, compassionate and friendly gal that loves being a mommy to my four year old! My husband and I enjoy travelling, especially to Walt Disney World, although it’s been a few years since we have been able to really get out and travel like we want to!
I am an avid follower of The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery and I enjoy stitching Disney characters! I even stitched a Cloud Factory pattern called 'Disney Princess Clock.' It is my proudest work as it was the first thing I completed with my husband’s help and was framed by a family friend so it would remain a functional clock.
I like stitching on aida 14 fabric by default as it is the one I learned to work on first. My mother-in-law spent many hours teaching me how to cross stitch and how to finish projects properly. My bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom and my daughter’s room are set up as galleries of my many completed projects that I have been able to take the time to frame. Of course, I do carry a box of projects that need to be framed, whenever I can spare time to find a great frame for them!
I love Lucie Heaton and Emma Congdon patterns as their whimsical designs speak to me in a way that really inspires me. Mice and small creatures like that make me smile because they are showcased as almost humans in a small world and that just gets my creative mind moving! Emma’s patterns feel inspirational through her phrases and the arrangement of colours, and I feel so invigorated and encouraged when I complete her patterns.
I have completed one Caterpillar Cross Stitch pattern so far. 'Deck the Halls' is easily my favourite Christmas pattern and has become a staple decoration in my house! It hangs near the front door so we always see it on the way out of the house at Christmas time because the pattern makes us think about and long for the little things that make our home feel extra special at Christmas time. We will cherish this pattern for a long, long time because it never fails to bring a smile to our faces.
