STITCHER OF THE MONTH - MARCH 2020

April 01, 2020

Welcome to the Caterpillar Cross Stitch 'Stitcher of the Month' competition for March 2020 where the winner will walk away with a £20 gift voucher! I love this community we've built together and I want to showcase the personality and story of a special stitcher each month.

Every one of you is so valued and I want to recognise and celebrate your contributions through this monthly giveaway. On the first day of every month, I'll ask for your nominations. You can nominate yourself or someone else.

Simply email me at info@caterpillarcrossstitch.com with your full name, email address and include a photo of some recent stitching. Don't hold back! Let us hear about your personality, background and experience with stitching. Where you're from, how you started stitching and why you love it!

The winner will receive a £20 Caterpillar Cross Stitch gift voucher and have their work shared on social media, our website and in the next email! At the end of each month, the Caterpillar Cross Stitch team will pick one winner based on the set criteria: creativity, interesting story, enjoyment and passion for cross stitch and overall impression. The winner will be contacted by email and will be interviewed for our blog and social media channels.

And now on to our WINNER for March 2020... Congratulations Joyce!

Joyce says:

I just took up counted cross stitch again after not having done it for 25 years! I was a knitter but recently I've been enjoying getting back into stitching.

I started a new Instagram account @stitchingjoyce to document my journey and find new friends. I really enjoyed coming back to the stitching craft! I just finished the piece below today as I type! (I need to practice my backstitching though!)

Cross stitch samplers are my favourite thing to stitch. I love to cross stitch because it helps me centre myself and I find that it calms my busy mind which seems to go in all directions.

My plans for this coming year include finishing 'Agnus Dei' (the stitching on black aida shown below) and practicing my stitching on linen. I don’t know why that intimidates me so much! I also love to stitch samplers and projects with a Christian theme.

Thank you for all of your wonderful entries - it was tough to pick a winner as they were all so lovely to read with some amazing stitching shown! We're going to take a little break from the competition for April but nominations are now open for our May 2020 Stitcher of the Month - I can't wait to see them!

If there was ever a time to take up stitching, or a good time to get into your first (or 40th) stitch-a-long, this is it. Christmas is one of my favourite times of year and although pre-order opens in August, like anything worthwhile, our festive stitching takes time.

Most importantly, I would also tell fellow stitchers or those wanting to stitch that stitching should be non-stressful and can be a great coping mechanism to help manage stress and anxiety! I make time every day to stitch and use it as my time to reflect on my day and process my emotions.
