I was recently contacted by ambitious stitcher, Jean who had an idea for an amazing project that would include 55,000 cross stitches (most of which are the same DMC shade!) and benefit the awesome Guide Dogs charity.
Jean will be raising £55,000 (the cost of supporting a guide dog from birth to retirement) through her project 'Donate a Stitch for Guide Dogs.' I have helped turn the official Guide Dogs logo into a cross stitch pattern which measures a whopping 12 x 19 inches of solid colour! Jean also insisted on stitching a little Carlos the caterpillar in the corner!
Jean says: I am a puppy walker for Guide Dogs, which means that with the support of my family, we raise a puppy from 8 weeks old until they are around 12 months old, before they go to "big school" for formal training. I am also a speaker for Guide Dogs and wanted a visual way to show my audiences, how much it costs Guide Dogs to support a guide dog from birth to retirement.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. The charity empowers visually impaired people to do just that and they rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
If you would like to donate to the cause and help Jean reach her goal, please click the image below which will take you through to the Just Giving page.
£5 will support a working guide dog partnership for a day, £10 could pay for an eye check for a guide dog in training, £25 could pay for annual vaccinations for a working guide dog and £50 could buy an 'Off to School Kit' for a puppy moving into their first stage of training.
