If you're new to cross stitch or perhaps this is the first time you've stumbled upon us here at Caterpillar Cross Stitch having seen an Instagram post or little Google search, then you might want to stitch some of our designs for free before delving in and purchasing one of our full cross stitch kits.
Think of it as a little taster of the quality, service and modern designs you can guarantee from us. We have developed an eBook jam-packed with 6 free cross stitch patterns so you can download and get stitching instantly!
If you're a beginner or wondering where to start with cross stitch, these free charts to download are a great place to begin. Easy and modern, they come with full DMC thread colour keys and clear, colour patterns with symbols too.
We have cross stitch patterns of birds, cactus themed, Valentine's bee and butterflies! One of the original free cross stitch patterns for you to print off was Smokey, the Halloween black cat! More recently, I also added to the eBook with this fun and modern WiFi design so you can really personalise your cross stitch!
You don't necessarily have to stitch and frame these designs, they can be turned into cross stitch cards, cushions, wall hangings, lap trays or incorporated into any other cross stitch project! I've seen some of these butterflies stitched into the Bloom & Grow flowers cross stitch kit and also made into a bookmark. The WiFi pattern is hung proudly in many homes and our Halloween cat cross stitch pattern stitched onto an apron!
The eBook is available for free when you sign up for our VIP Stitch Club newsletter by clicking HERE or on any of the images shown. As a member, you also receive weekly emails with video tutorials, interesting blog posts, helpful information, cross stitch inspiration, freebies, offers and more free patterns as they're added over the months!
I hope that you love stitching these and if you catch the stitching bug like the rest of our community, please do come back and potentially venture into a stitch-a-long next!
Happy stitching

Teaching a child to cross stitch is one of those simple pleasures that creates lasting memories. Whether you're passing on a skill learned from your own parents or grandparents, or picking up a needle for the first time alongside your child, the experience of creating something together is genuinely rewarding.

If you're looking for a new hobby that's calming, creative, and keeps your hands busy, you've probably come across both crochet and cross stitch. Both crafts have devoted followings, and both offer genuine benefits for your wellbeing. But they're quite different in practice, and knowing which one suits your lifestyle can save you time, money, and frustration.
