March 30, 2021
Welcome to the Caterpillar Cross Stitch 'Stitcher of the Month' competition for March 2021 where the winner will walk away with a £20 gift voucher! I love this community we've built together and I want to showcase the personality and story of a special stitcher each month.
Every one of you is so valued and I want to recognise and celebrate your contributions through this monthly giveaway. On the first day of every month, I'll ask for your nominations. You can nominate yourself or someone else.
Simply email us at info@caterpillarcrossstitch.com (with Stitcher of the Month in the subject line) with your full name, location and include:
1. 3 photos of some recent stitching (any design or brand)
2. A clear, high resolution photo of yourself or the nominee
3. Let us hear about your personality, background and experience with stitching including a tip for beginners (300 words minimum please)
4. Your favourite piece, how you started stitching and why you love it!
The winner will receive a £20 Caterpillar Cross Stitch gift voucher and have their work shared on social media, our website and in the next email! At the end of each month, the Caterpillar Cross Stitch team will pick one winner based on the set criteria: creativity, interesting story, enjoyment and passion for cross stitch and overall impression. The winner will be contacted by email and will be interviewed for our blog and social media channels.
And now on to our WINNER for March 2021 (as nominated by her daughter Stefanie)... Congratulations Becky!
Stefanie says:
My name is Stefanie Basford and I am nominating my mom, Becky Reeve to be the next stitcher of the month! Obviously I think she is amazing in so many ways but her cross stitching and sewing/quilting passions mean so much to her and me!
From a very young age she has instilled the passion for sewing (both machine and hand sewing) and it grew in me, to the extent that I asked for a sewing machine for my high school graduation and I am now a Fashion teacher in high school!
It was something we always did together and still do to this day. The best part is that my grandma (her mom) loved it too. I even have a bunch of my grandma’s old stash of thread that I use for my projects! My mom just finished her 10th stocking that she is cross stitching. Everyone in our immediate family has one and they are BEAUTIFUL!
We both did the Caterpillar Cross Stitch Deck the Halls stitch-a-long last year, just both completed a full year of small cross stitch pieces and now she has inspired me to do Stitch-Maynia (which means we both have 15 cross stitch projects going now, working on 1 a day) This is the year project that we just finished!
Not only has she inspired me to sew, but she is also teaching my daughter to sew. She helped Maddy learn how to use a sewing machine and make her first quilt which was entered in a quilt show! It is amazing how much she loves to share her passion with everyone and I hope that she knows how much it means.
Here is her Instagram for you to see more of her projects so you can see all of the wonderful things she does!
My mom has stitching and sewing in her blood...her mom (Lucia Beth) was an avid stitcher and sewer and passed it right on to her. I remember having small cross stitch kits as a kid and it was always something I enjoyed because of my mom and grandma’s love for it! I even have projects that have been completely finished using my grandmas old stash.
My mom has one more stocking left for my youngest niece, Charlotte, so I know that is one of her most recent projects. She also just finished a project that she has been working on for a long time, 'A Saviour’s Praise.' It is beautiful and has so much meaning.

Thank you for all of your wonderful entries - it was tough to pick a winner as they were all so lovely to read with some amazing stitching shown! Nominations are now open for our April 2021 Stitcher of the Month - I can't wait to see them!
