CROSS STITCHER OF THE MONTH - APRIL 2019

May 01, 2019

Welcome to the Caterpillar Cross Stitch 'Stitcher of the Month' competition for April 2019 where the winner will come away with a £20 gift voucher! I love this community we've built together and I want to showcase the personality and story of a special stitcher each month.

Every one of you is so valued and I want to recognise and celebrate your contributions through this monthly giveaway. On the first day of every month, I'll ask for your nominations. You can nominate yourself or someone else.

cross stitcher of the month

Simply email me at info@caterpillarcrossstitch.com with your full name, email address and include a photo of some recent stitching. Don't hold back! Let us hear about your personality, background and experience with stitching. Where you're from, how you started stitching and why you love it!

The winner will receive a £20 Caterpillar Cross Stitch gift voucher and have their work shared on social media, our website and in the next email! At the end of each month, the Caterpillar Cross Stitch team will pick one winner based on the set criteria: creativity, interesting story, enjoyment and passion for cross stitch and overall impression. The winner will be contacted by email and will be interviewed for our blog and social media channels.

And now on to our WINNER for April 2019!... Congratulations Katie May-Erskine!

Katie says: Hello, I'm a 27 year old wife and mother of a 2 year old boy. I work in my local doctors surgery, which as you can imagine can be very hectic! My nan taught me to cross stitch when I was around 8 years old and I've now decided to pick it up again. Sadly, she passed away 4 weeks before my son was born so my first cross stitch piece is in memory of her to go in my son's bedroom. In true style of my nan and myself, I haven’t started small! So for my first piece, I have gone for 'Adventure Awaits'. Some might say a little crazy considering it’s been 19 years since my last piece, but go big or go home I say! I’m very excited to see it come along.

I’d always wanted to make sure that part of my nan lived on in my son's life. I thought for ages about how I could do this. I saw 'Adventure Awaits' and thought, what better way to bring part of my nan into his life than to stitch him something I know she would have loved to have stitched herself. I can truly say it’s brought me so much joy and relaxation stitching this and I can’t wait to see it finished and hanging in my son's room. Then he’ll always have a part of his great-nan with him and the world at his feet!

Thank you for all of your wonderful entries - it was tough to pick a winner as they were all so lovely to read with some amazing stitching shown! Nominations are now open for our May Stitcher of the Month - I can't wait to see them!

For me, stitching is much more than just a hobby - it helps with my horrible anxiety and sometimes depression and although my main source of pride is of course, my daughter who is now 12, it also brings me so much pride, peace and a sense of calm which is something a person with anxiety doesn't get often.
